‘Atsa spicy meat-a-ball!!
Well, sorry, forgive the bad Italian accent there, but I’ve just been so excited by the new weekly event that the W.M.B.M.A. hosts each Thursday night. I think I’m gaining weight. But I’m having an awfully good time doing it!!
Another successful evening
We’ve been featuring our weekly free concert series here on the blog, and this time around I’m proud to give you a video of my friends and avid West Michigan Bluegrass Music Association supporters, Patchwork Band, who put on a good show at our most recent weekly bluegrass concert.
In case you aren’t a regular reader of this blog, then I’ll share with you that the West Michigan Bluegrass Music Association hosts a weekly, free bluegrass concert that takes place at Pietro’s Italian Restaurant in Grand Rapids. We have a rotation of four bands who each take a certain Thursday of the month, and each of the bands have played once now. The concert series goes through May of 2010, and we look forward to each of the groups doing more great shows.
Patchwork Band is a west Michigan favorite
The fourth Thursday of the month finds us being entertained by our old friends Patchwork Band. This is a great group of musicians who’ve been around for a mighty long time now. They have great staying power, which is rare for a local level band.
Patchwork Band plays an eclectic mix of material, focused around guitarist and lead singer Ruth Lakatos’ stirring and soulful vocals. This is a group that puts a lot of focus on vocal harmonies, and it shows. Just check out their rendition of the song Seven Bridges Road by the Eagles in the video below as proof of that! Patchwork isn’t straight bluegrass, although they do tip their hat to the genre. A little Americana, a little country, a little folk, a little rock, a little bluegrass, some fiddle tunes…a very nice mix.

Stand by for film at 11…
Well, actually, you don’t have to wait until 11. You can watch the film below right now! (I’ve just always wanted to say that.) Check out this video clip of the group shaking their groove thing at Pietro’s on the fourth Thursday of the month:
Come on out and see us sometime
You can some great music…and the best Italian food in the area…every Thursday through May of 2010. We could use your support at our events and we hope you’ll consider coming out to check out the action. Note: the West Michigan Bluegrass Music Association is not responsible for any weight gains or tailor bills for letting out your pants as a direct result of your increased Italian food intake at our events.
Also, don’t forget to leave comments at the bottom of these blog posts. We’re looking for interaction and we’d love to hear from you! See you at the show this coming Thursday.
