2010 will be a good year for bluegrass

As we close out 2009 and get ready for a busy and fun 2010, we take a minute to reflect and thank each and every one of our site visitors, blog readers, and association members for your help and support.

Big things in store

The West Michigan Bluegrass Music Association continues to make huge strides as an organization, and we look forward to continued good growth and the further promotion of bluegrass music in west Michigan. It’s been amazing to see the changes, the transformation, the growth, and the furtherance of the W.M.B.M.A. over the past 15 years, and I’m proud of where we’ve gone and where we’re going. We’re slowly bringing technology into play, we’re continually seeking the best top-name acts for our festivals, we’re promoting, blogging, advertising, and doing the leg work to try to grow our association. New this year is our participation in the Bluegrass Ambassador program for the International Bluegrass Music Museum…we get to send two representatives as ambassadors to represent west Michigan at the museum. Pretty exciting! We’ve also got a brand spanking new website, redesigned by yours truly. Check it out at http://www.wmbma.org. Click me! Click me!

What would you like from your association?

As we reflect on the great 14 year history of our association, we want to know how to make this association even better for you as we enter our 15th year. What would you like to see happen with the W.M.B.M.A.? How can we give you added value to make your yearly dues a good investment? Do you have suggestions for our festivals? Suggestions for our monthly meetings? Anything you’d like changed? This is, and has always been, a member-driven association, and while we are governed by elected officers and a board of directors, we believe that the membership speaks through our board and officers. Don’t hesitate to add your voice to the mix and let us know what you’d like to see in 2010.

Leave your comments and suggestions below!

At the bottom of this blog post is a spot for you to leave your comments, suggestions, and questions. We’d love to see a dialogue about the future of the association start there. If you’ve never commented before you’ll have to click the link to log in first, and then create a username and password. Once you’ve done that, you can leave comments in the comment box. You can also subscribe to comments so that you’ll get an email anytime someone leaves another comment. That way you can be “in on the conversation”!

As a personal note, I thought I’d share that I won a scholarship to the Peter Wernick Advanced Banjo Camp in Boulder, Colorado from Jan. 18 to Jan. 23, so I’m excited about that. I hope to further myself as a banjo player, but even more I hope to become just that much more in tune with this wonderful art form so that I can be an even better representative of and for the W.M.B.M.A. as I act in my capacity of Social Media Director. I’ll have updates about the experience here on this blog and also on my personal blog at http://www.mybanjolife.com. I’d love to see you stop by that blog and check it out!

Take care, keep in touch, and as I always say: pick ‘em if ya got ‘em! Bluegrass Paul out.
