Come see us each month!
The W.M.B.M.A. holds meetings and events at least once per month throughout the year, and sometimes more than once per month. It’s a chance to come out and hear some of the best local pickers that west Michigan has to offer, as well enjoy the fellowship and benefits of hanging out with other bluegrass lovers.
Join us on the third Saturday of every month
The W.M.B.M.A. main event of the month always occurs on the third Saturday, or the third weekend in the case of our bluegrass festivals, of every month. We held our meeting for February, 2010, on Saturday February 20th, at a local establishment called Fricano’s Pizza. We’ve been to Fricano’s twice now, and boy did we draw a crowd. The food there is delicious, and it seems that the addition of live music proved very popular indeed. The place was filled to capacity for our January meeting and our February meeting both.
We bring in a band to help entertain at each meeting. The band for the February meeting was Rogue River Grass. Rogue River Grass is a fusion group that mixes in a little rock ‘n roll, a little country, some blues, some bluegrass…a little of everything it would seem. They like to call themselves “American” music versus any other label such as country or blues or bluegrass. Rogue River usually has a rockin’ good time, and you can consult this video to see a taste of the group in action:
We’d love to see you there!
You can consult the West Michigan Bluegrass Music Association’s website at www.wmba.org to see the schedule of events for the year. We hope you’ll consider coming out to a meeting and that you’ll bring along your instrument to join the jam sessions that are usually going on during and after the band performance. The meetings take place in various locations, but the next several are going to be at Zellie’s Opry House in Howard City. (See our website for details.) See you there!
