The West Michigan Bluegrass Music Association is based out of Lowell, Michigan, and in
2010 we're celebrating our 15th year as an association! We're a dynamic and active group,
putting on one or more monthly events throughout the year. Our flagship events are the
two bluegrass festivals that we host in May and September. Scroll down the page for a
quick view calendar or click over to the events page for full
details of our upcoming events.

We periodically send out news, announcements, and updates to our subscriber list. We would love to add you to that list! Simply click the link below to be taken to our subscriber form.

Ed Fisher of Alto had Lymphoma and then graft-vs-host disease, a complication from the bone marrow transplant. A great fan of bluegrass, Ed finally lost the 5.5 year battle for his life here on this earth on May 15. There is a benefit being thrown to help the family on Saturday, Sept. 25 in Alto Michigan. Any bands willing to play for the benefit would be greatly appreciated. Learn more about the event by visiting the event Facebook page at this link: Ed Fisher Benefit Page.

We've got the remainder of the association-sponsored events loaded on the events calendar page, including the flyer for upcoming Fallfest 2010.

The Blarney Stone Band, comprised of the Hoffman family from the Hastings, Michigan
area, are playing an ice cream social and artist reception at Pierce Cedar Creek Institute.
This is a free event. The Hoffman's are friends of the W.M.B.M.A. and I'm sure they'd love
to see you there. The event takes place on Tuesday, June 29, from 6-8pm. For location info
or other details,

As you know, the W.M.B.M.A. is celebrating our 15th anniversary in 2010, and to help commemorate the event, we are pursuing the idea of creating a CD, recorded live at our two festivals this year. The CD would feature the stage shows of the acts, recorded as they perform for us.
We're trying to figure out how much interest there would be in such an
undertaking, so we've come up with two very important questions:
We would appreciate it if you would take the time to send us an answer
to these two questions, even if the answer is no. It will help us to plan
accordingly. Send your answers to this address: wmbmacd@gmail.com
You may also download these questions on a questionnaire that you can mail
to us (address provided on questionnaire). To download the questionnaire,

We have a last minute change to our Pietro's lineup that we wanted to let you know about. West Michigan's first family of bluegrass, The Williams Family Band, have agreed to stand in for Schlitz Creek at our weekly bluegrass event that happens at Pietro's Italian Restaurant. Schlitz Creek has a scheduling conflict and so can't make their April 8 show. The Williams Family graciously agreed to step in and help out. To learn more about the free weekly bluegrass concert at Pietro's Italian Restaurant, follow this link.

The W.M.B.M.A. is sponsoring bluegrass music at Pietro's Italian Restaurant every Thursday through May. This is a great concert series featuring four really good local bands and some of the best Italian food in this area.
To learn more about the event and to see the band lineup, you can visit
our promotional page about the event for more
details.

The association was approached by a band out of Tennessee who wished it to be known that they are appearing in our backyard this coming April. The band is Jeff & Vida, and they have a website at www.jeffandvida.com.
The band is appearing at the Livery in Benton Harbor on April 24, 2010.
If you are looking for some great acoustic and bluegrass music to go see, you
might want to check out this show. Visit their website
for more details.

It's a work in progress, but you are currently viewing the newest version of the West Michigan Bluegrass Music Association's website. Stay tuned for more changes and features to come!
